Mediterranean Origin  Genetic Kit

Cannalogix Foundation is proud to bring to its members (new and old) the Mediterranean Origin Genetic Kit. The Mediterranean Origin Genetic Kit uses DNA to look at several factors to determine a person’s predisposition to disease and health risks associated with their Mediterranean Origin. We are proud to be a part of this research and will be updating you more as technology advances.

Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF), is an inflammatory disorder prevalent amongst people from Mediterranean origins characterized by recurrent fevers and painful inflammation of abdomen, lungs and joints. Populations having a high prevalence (1/200-1/1000) of the disease are non-Ashkenazi Jews, Turks, Armenians and Arabs.

Certain mutations are associated with development of amyloidosis, resulting in protein deposits leading to kidney failure.

FMF is caused by mutations in MEFV gene and our kit is designed to assess your and your family’s risk for developing FMF along with the risk for FMF induced amyloidosis by assessing for mutations in the gene.
